Taoyuan 77 Art and Culture Town Introduction
"Taoyuan 77 Arts & Cultural District" was formerly the Japanese dormitory complex of the Taoyuan Police Bureau, located in front of the Taoyuan Train Station commercial area. It has been planned as a historical building and revitalized into a cultural and creative park after renovations by the city government, making it one of the most popular photo spots in Taoyuan. The Japanese dormitory building, which dates back to the Japanese colonial era and post-war period, is situated in the old town of Taoyuan, embodying characteristics of a commercial, cultural, and administrative center. Three years ago, the city government decided to "restore as it was" to recreate the dormitory complex, preserving the historical features of Japanese wooden architecture. The revitalized "Taoyuan 77 Arts & Cultural District" combines the architectural style of the Japanese colonial period with the meaning of Alley 77 on Zhongzheng Road, named through a public voting process. The park features a diverse range of spaces and events, including retail (cultural and creative product shops), handmade (handicraft experience classrooms), exhibitions (exhibition workshops), police headquarters (service center and administrative offices), prayer pavilion (performance and resting area), Qitau market (weekend market), and Chengzhen Café (well-known chain light meals restaurant). Although the park is not large, it provides a garden space filled with artistic atmosphere in the bustling commercial area of Taoyuan City. On a refreshing afternoon, a leisurely walk through this serene space is quite enjoyable. (Image source: Taoyuan 77 Arts & Cultural District)
