Army Restaurant Introduction
In 2015, the Golden Award Restaurant in Taoyuan City may lead many to believe that the owner is from a military dependent village or a son of a mainland Chinese family, but in fact, the owner is a genuine Taiwanese, while the owner’s wife is a straightforward lady from Fuzhou. The couple has been in the catering industry for a long time, originally running a roasted meat shop before transforming into a noodle restaurant focused on military dependent village cuisine. To perfect the taste and texture of the dishes, the owner specifically learned how to make noodles and side dishes from mothers in military dependent villages, attracting food lovers to come and taste their offerings. Due to their deep local roots, they have become a popular spot for neighbors to dine out. The menu at the Army Noodle Restaurant is almost entirely made up of noodle dishes, with the most popular being the homestyle noodle gnocchi, which is chewy, rich in ingredients, and has a clear and sweet broth, providing a satisfying meal. The signature dry mixed noodles, prepared with black pork lard, are also a crowd favorite with their rich aroma. The must-have side dishes, including marinated delicacies and small dishes, are refreshing and non-greasy, making them endlessly enjoyable. While waiting for the dishes to be served, patrons can take the opportunity to admire the decor inside the restaurant, which is filled with various items such as national flags, portraits of the founding father and Chiang Kai-shek, military uniform badges, the iconic Dazhong baby, and the nameplates of military dependent villages, all exuding a strong retro vibe.
