Army Bistro Introduction
In 2015, Taoyuan City awarded the Golden Prize to this popular eatery. Many might assume that the owner grew up in a military dependents' village or is a child of mainlanders, but in fact, the owner is a genuine Taiwanese. The owner’s wife is a straightforward lady from Fuzhou. The couple has been working in the food industry for a long time; they originally ran a roasted meat shop before transitioning to military dependents' cuisine. To ensure the flavors and textures were just right, the owner specifically learned to make noodles and side dishes from the mothers of military dependents. Their dedication to the local community has made their eatery a favorite spot for neighbors. The menu at Army Cuisine features mainly noodle dishes, with the most popular being the homemade noodle dumplings, which are chewy, generously filled, and accompanied by a light, sweet broth, providing a satisfying meal. The signature dry mixed noodles, made with black pork fat, are also very popular for their rich aroma. The side dishes, such as braised delicacies, are refreshing and not greasy, making them endlessly enjoyable. While waiting for the dishes to be served, patrons can take in the charming retro decor, adorned with a variety of national flags, portraits of the Founding Father and Chiang Kai-shek, military uniform patches, Ding Dong and other nostalgic items, and signs from military dependents' villages.
