Central Taiwan Environmental Resources Education Center Introduction
The Zhongtai Resource Technology No. 2 Plant, located in the Taoyuan Environmental Technology Park, specializes in the recycling of discarded lighting fixtures and the treatment of hazardous mercury waste, promoting the concept of "turning waste into gold." In 2014, it was certified by the Environmental Protection Administration of the Executive Yuan and established an Environmental Resource Education Center, actively promoting resource recycling and reuse. The center is open to various government agencies, universities, local communities, and also welcomes foreign visitors to showcase Taiwan's leading global green technology and work together to contribute to the earth. The Zhongtai Resource Technology No. 2 Plant has developed cutting-edge recovery and dismantling technology for discarded lighting sources, with a distinctive feature of converting 95% of waste into usable resources, while treated mercury waste achieves high purity and high recovery rates. In addition, it employs waste glass treatment technology to create recycled glass resources, effectively reducing resource waste. Currently, the Zhongtai Environmental Resource Education Center offers two types of guided courses: Course 1, "Mercury Pollution and Its Impact," with a two-hour teaching time, delves into understanding mercury pollution and its health impacts, encouraging proactive measures to avoid mercury contamination. Course 2, "Turning Waste into Treasure - Recycling of Waste Tubes and Glass," teaches the correct concepts of waste classification, discovering reusable resources from garbage heaps, and transforming waste into art with creativity. At the end of the course, participants are invited to unleash their imagination and engage in DIY creative glass art using recycled glass materials from the plant, practically embodying the concept of environmental protection, leaving unique handcrafted souvenirs that create memorable experiences from the visit.
