Houhu Creek Ecological Park Introduction
The Houhu River, located on the north shore of Yong'an Fishing Port, is approximately 1.3 kilometers long. It was originally an irrigation canal for agriculture and is characterized by a semi-enclosed, wide water area. Due to its limited exposure to the northeast monsoon and tidal effects, it features a calm and safe water surface, presenting a rare tranquil coastal river landscape. Natural mangrove wetlands on both sides of the river and at the northern end include diverse plants such as water salicornias, sea purslane, Casuarina equisetifolia, and Derris trifoliata. Wetland organisms such as fiddler crabs and mudskippers can also be observed along the coast, making it a unique ecological highlight in the coastal area of Taoyuan.
