Rugu Mountain Introduction
Located at the border of Longtan and Yangmei, Rugushan is renowned for its enchanting night views and has always been a popular spot for sightseeing in Taoyuan. Standing at an elevation of 390 meters, Rugushan's shape resembles a woman's breast, which is why the local Hakka people have given it this interesting name. Whether enjoying the romantic view of the shimmering lights in the beautiful night or exploring the appearance of this tea mountain during the day, it leaves a lasting impression. The numerous landscape restaurants along Yangtong Road, offering Hakka cuisine, creative desserts, natural vegetarian food, and coffee tea drinks, make it easy to imagine how worthwhile a visit to Rugushan can be. The low elevation of Rugushan, located at a dip in the Dahan River, provides an unobstructed view; not only can you overlook the entire Longtan area and the Dahan River plain, but you can also clearly see Guanyin, Zhongli, Qingpu, and Linkou, with good visibility offering the opportunity to spot Taipei 101. Every New Year’s Eve, many people arrive early at Rugushan to secure the best spots for viewing fireworks. Whether it’s during the golden sunlight of sunset, illuminating the entire valley, or the sparkling lights at night exuding luxury, choosing a restaurant to enjoy delicious food alongside the beautiful scenery will undoubtedly enhance the value of this trip! Due to its abundant rainfall and red soil, Rugushan creates an excellent growing environment for tea trees, making it an important tea-producing area in Taoyuan. The Fuyuan Tea Factory, located in Rugushan and with a history of over a century, produces classic Taiwanese teas such as Taiwan Tea No. 18 black tea, Oriental Beauty tea, and sour lime tea, all of which enjoy fame both domestically and internationally. The well-known beverage brand Cha Li Wang’s Japanese green tea is produced at Fuyuan Tea Factory. A tea tasting journey, experiencing tea picking and tea kneading, is also a recommended way to get to know Rugushan.
