Longtan Tourist Big Pond Introduction
Dragon Pond is one of the famous attractions in Taoyuan. Like many other ponds, it originally served to regulate water levels and irrigate farmland. Now, it has not only become a primary recreational area for local residents but also attracts many visitors during the Dragon Boat Festival to watch the dragon boat races, which are quite lively. In recent years, with the efforts of the city government, the century-old Dragon Pond has been renovated, featuring a majestic new suspension bridge and incorporating recreational elements like water activities, continuing its century-long charm. Visitors can enjoy the scenic beauty surrounded by mountains and shimmering water while riding swan boats. At night, the romantic light sculptures create a magical atmosphere, making it a sweet spot for couples to stroll and the perfect experience location for friends who enjoy water activities like stand-up paddleboarding. Who says you can only see dragon boat races during the Dragon Boat Festival? Here, you can arrange for a dragon boat race with friends by making a reservation in advance. Additionally, there are inclusive play equipment for children within the park, creating joyful moments for families. Apart from the fun water activities, don’t miss the three uniquely styled viewing bridges that span the pond, allowing you to appreciate the pond's ever-changing beauty from different angles, whether it be morning, noon, or evening. The newly renovated suspension bridge at Dragon Pond, designed with dragon and water motifs and a combination of cable-stayed and suspension bridge structure, is magnificent. Standing in the center of the bridge, one can enjoy the expansive view of Dragon Pond. At night, the bridge displays a different charm, enhanced by colorful light variations, creating a romantic and vibrant atmosphere. The second bridge, Jiouqu Bridge (Zhongyi Bridge), leads from Longyuan Road in the north to the Nantiangong Temple, featuring nine curves in its design, allowing visitors to discover new views at every turn. At the northern end of the bridge, near the mountain gate, there is a statue of Maitreya Buddha welcoming visitors to the Nantiangong Temple (mainly enshrining Guanyin Emperor). The third bridge, Full Moon Bridge, is located at the southern end of the pond and is only 40 meters long, featuring a curved stone arch design. Though short, it provides an impressive vista of Dragon Pond, giving the sense of "one bridge capturing the entire pond." If you're tired and want to leisurely enjoy a cup of coffee, delicious food, or a drink, consider visiting "Dragon Coffee" or "Himitsu Bar & Bistro" on the second floor of the waterfront plaza beside the pond. Surrounded by beautiful scenery, you can change your mood and relax while enjoying the beauty of life. Both restaurants are also perfect romantic date spots, making them the best choice for creating sweet memories.
