Neidong National Forest Recreation Area Introduction

With the sound of roaring waterfalls, the ferns paradise of Neidong National Forest Recreation Area is nestled between the mountains and water, offering a peaceful escape filled with greenery. Located about 50 minutes from Xindian, Neidong is one of the most accessible national forest recreation areas in the Greater Taipei region. It ranges in altitude from 230 to 1,500 meters and is crossed by the Neidong Stream, creating a humid and warm environment perfect for ferns. On the short scenic waterfall trail, visitors can discover nearly 65 species of ferns, including the rare Dacrydium photinia and Lygodium japonicum, which thrive on the trunks of the towering trees. This area was formerly known as “Doll Valley,” named due to the abundance of frogs that serenade the night, echoing throughout the valley. You may even spot frogs along the streamside! Neidong Waterfall, the highlight of the recreation area, presents two tiers with distinct features at the end of the viewing trail, providing a multifaceted experience along with refreshing negative ion aromas. On a hot summer day, escape from the sweltering city to enjoy a refreshing afternoon forest bath at Neidong National Forest Recreation Area!
