Xiaowulai Sky Walk Introduction
Xiao Wulai Scenic Area is located in the eastern mountainous region between Xia Yun Ping and Fuxing Bridge along the Northern Cross-Island Highway. It is one of the popular attractions along the Northern Cross-Island Highway. Upon entering the scenic area, visitors can enjoy cherry blossom viewing, waterfall sightseeing, and riverside activities. Notably, the area is also home to Taiwan's first transparent skywalk and the newly emerging attraction, the Sky Rope Bridge. Supported by the Taoyuan City Government, the bridge was opened on Valentine's Day to allow every visitor to connect with nature, unwind, and reminisce about their first love while creating wonderful memories. Currently, the most popular attraction in Xiao Wulai Scenic Area is the thrilling "Sky Walk," where visitors can experience the excitement of having waterfalls and deep abysses beneath their feet. After leaving the Sky Walk, a five-minute walk leads to the Sky Rope Bridge. This newly opened rope bridge is secured with steel cables and spans 70 meters over the Dali Kan Valley at a height of approximately 50 meters. Its thrilling nature offers an exciting upgrade from the Sky Walk 2.0. Opened in 2015, the Sky Rope Bridge differs from the Sky Walk, which challenges visual limits with transparent glass; instead, it allows one person to walk on a bridge width of about 1 meter. The structure was originally designed to support a load of 120 tons and features specially installed anti-wind main cables on both sides to prevent swaying in strong winds. However, unlike the main cable of the Sky Walk, which is located above, the main cable of the rope bridge is installed below the walkway. Combined with the synchronized steps of visitors, the swinging sensation makes the bridge feel particularly shaky, as if swaying between the valleys with the riverbed below. The height of the steel cables reaches approximately chest level, allowing visitors to enjoy the lush scenery of dense forests, providing a unique experience of high-altitude challenges. In addition to the exhilarating experience of crossing the deep valley on the Sky Rope Bridge, the waterfall view is another beautiful sight worth visiting. Midway across the bridge, visitors can first overlook the "Mysterious Waterfall" hidden within the valley. Since the rope bridge is one-way, reaching the other end leads to both the "Yixing Suspension Bridge" and "Longfeng Waterfall." If one wishes to exercise their leg strength, they can opt for a 1.5-hour round-trip hike along the "Shuizhen Ancient Road" to reach the "Yixing Suspension Bridge." Alternatively, a closer visit can be made to the "Longfeng Waterfall," which takes only twenty minutes return. The waterfall consists of two levels; the upper level, known as the "Long Valley Waterfall," is about 13 meters high, while the lower level, called the "Feng Valley Waterfall," stands at about 9 meters. The negative ions and phytoncides from the flowing water provide a refreshing experience in nature.
