Xiaowulai Sky Walk Introduction
Xiao Wulai Scenic Area is located in the eastern mountainous region between Xiayu Ping and Fuxing Bridge along the North Cross-Island Highway. It is one of the well-known attractions along this route. Inside the scenic area, visitors can enjoy cherry blossoms, view waterfalls, and experience the waterfront. It also boasts Taiwan's first transparent skywalk, which should not be missed, along with a newly emerging attraction in the Xiao Wulai Scenic Area—the Sky Rope Bridge. Developed by the Taoyuan City Government, it was inaugurated on Valentine's Day to allow each visitor to get closer to nature, clear their minds, and reminisce about their first love, creating wonderful memories. Currently, the most popular attraction at Xiao Wulai Scenic Area is the thrilling "Sky Walk," which offers the exhilarating experience of standing over waterfalls and deep gorges. After leaving the Sky Walk, visitors can reach the "Sky Rope Bridge," just a five-minute walk away. This newly opened rope bridge is secured by steel cables at its base, spanning 70 meters and suspended about 50 meters above the Dali Dry Creek Gorge. The thrill level is comparable to the Sky Walk 2.0 without any seams. Opened in 2015, the Sky Rope Bridge differs from the Sky Walk by challenging visual limits with a bridge that allows only one person at a time with a width of about 100 centimeters. Despite its initial structural design strength that can support up to 120 tons, the main cable of the rope bridge is installed underneath, creating a swaying sensation as visitors walk, as if swinging between the valleys, with the canyon riverbed beneath. Alongside the bridge, the height of the steel cables reaches about chest level, providing visitors with an unobstructed view of the lush forest scenery, making the unique high-altitude challenge an extraordinary experience. In addition to the thrill of traversing the deep gorge on the Sky Rope Bridge, the waterfall views are also a highlight. Midway across the rope bridge, visitors can first overlook the "Mysterious Waterfall" hidden within the valley. Since the rope bridge allows only one-way passage, the other end leads to either the "Yixing Suspension Bridge" or "Longfeng Waterfall." If one wishes to exercise their legs, they can choose the "Shuizhen Ancient Path" to the "Yixing Suspension Bridge," taking about one and a half hours round trip. Alternatively, the "Longfeng Waterfall" can be visited, requiring only twenty minutes for a round trip. The waterfall consists of two levels: the upper "Longgu Waterfall," approximately 13 meters high, and the lower "Fenggu Waterfall," about 9 meters high. The negative ions and phytoncides from the cascading water provide a refreshing experience in nature.
