Zhenxi Fort Church Introduction
The highest mountain settlement in Taiwan, Chanjih Town, is considered by the Atayal people to be the sacred place where the first rays of dawn shine. It features the largest area of ancient cypress forest in Taiwan, covering 50 square kilometers. The giant trees create a breathtaking atmosphere, while clouds and mist occasionally drift, lightly veiling the dense forest and making it feel as if one has entered a pristine realm, showcasing an ultimate beauty of nature. Within the settlement, there is a stone church built by the indigenous people over many years using stones from the Shiu-Luan Creek and white marble. The rectangular building, with a yellow roof and a blend of blue and white colors, is adorned with carvings of the tribe's representative totems and stories. It serves as a place of faith and represents the tranquil and harmonious culture of the mountains.
