Zhishengmaotaishan Trail Introduction

Zhi Sheng Mao Tai Mountain Trail is a famous hiking route in Jianshi Township, offering rich natural landscapes and historical relics. Starting from the Junjian Rock Suspension Bridge, the initial section of the trail consists of steep stone steps, with exposed shale layers visible on both sides. As you deepen your hike, the scenery shifts to lush bamboo forests, where bamboo leaves sway in the wind, creating a crisp sound that brings a sense of tranquility. For some hikers, the steep slopes can be a bit strenuous, but resting benches are available for a timely slowdown. After about 15 minutes, the trail transitions to an original mountain path, where slippery fallen leaves and fallen trees may slightly hinder progress, adding a wild charm to the hike. Along the way, you will encounter the ruins of the Ai Yong Detachment, with existing embankments and shooting holes that evoke thoughts of the military stronghold it once was. Continuing your ascent, a beautiful landscape unfolds with plants such as Taiwan Oak, Taiwan Ivy, and Sweet Gum intermingling, allowing you to immerse yourself in nature's embrace. After passing a pavilion, the trail gradually narrows, and continuing on will lead you to the West Peak. The West Peak's triangulation point stands at an elevation of 1,492 meters and is a natural stone sculpture, attracting many hikers for photos. The path then continues through an area interspersed with Red Pine and various tree species, where more military relics, such as the "Dun Ye Wild Cannon Position,” can be seen along the way. Finally, reaching the main peak of Zhi Sheng Mao Tai Mountain at an elevation of 1,789 meters, you will find yourself surrounded by forests, with two giant cypress trees becoming popular photo spots. For those seeking more challenging hikes, you can continue to Hu Li Mountain, known as the "Zhi Hu Traverse," which features steep slopes suitable for physically fit and experienced hikers. Whether in the golden hues of autumn or the lush greens of spring and summer, Zhi Sheng Mao Tai Mountain attracts an increasing number of hiking enthusiasts with its unique natural and historical charm.
