Jianshi Rock Introduction

Jianshi Rock is a landmark in Jianshi Township, Hsinchu County. It is located about 400 meters northeast of the Jianshi Township Office, standing amidst the Naluo and Jiale rivers. The giant rock is crowned with an ancient cypress tree that remains verdant all year round, exhibiting a majestic form and grand aura. Despite enduring harsh weather and erosion over the years, it still stands proudly, symbolizing the courageous loyalty and indomitable spirit of the Atayal people, who rise up even after setbacks, hence the name Jianshi. The rock measures 35 meters in length and 20 meters in width, serving as a magnificent natural barrier for the township. Legend has it that this rock has been standing for over ten thousand years, with the stream flowing gently beneath it and many large stones scattered in the creek, yet this rock stands out prominently.
