Beidela Man Giant Trees Introduction

Beidalamanshan, also known as Bird Beak Mountain, is regarded as a "sacred mountain" by the Atayal people of the Hsinchu area and symbolizes the local culture and nature. This mountain not only boasts magnificent natural scenery but is also one of the traditional sacred places of the Atayal, where the community fiercely protects this land from outsiders. It was historically a site where Atayal youth underwent tests of courage and wisdom, playing a crucial role in their coming-of-age process. The ancient tree cluster on Beidalamanshan consists of precious low-altitude red cypress trees, some of which date back 3,000 to 4,000 years. These ancient red cypress trees have survived to this day partly because, during the Japanese colonial period, the Japanese regarded the "cypress" shape as unattractive, coupled with the fact that the area was rarely visited by people, allowing it to remain undisturbed. This thriving cypress grove not only possesses immense ecological value but is also one of the most renowned low-altitude giant cypress forests in Taiwan, rivaling the scale and scenery of other high-altitude trails. Standing on the summit of Beidalamanshan, the view before you is breathtaking. The mountains are enveloped in clouds and mist, resembling a landscape painting with contrasting depths and shades, while the hazy sea of clouds adds a layer of mystery and vastness to this nature. Standing atop the mountain, one can quietly enjoy the expansive beauty, becoming completely immersed in the embrace of nature, making it an unforgettable experience. This sacred mountainous area not only has cypress groves with significant historical and cultural value but has also become an ideal place for exploration and contemplation due to its magnificent sea of clouds and mountain views.
