Huzuo Fei Art Studio Introduction
Promoting the beauty of Guanshi with the soothing sound of the hulusi, complemented by a rose-red indoor decor, creates a relaxed and harmonious atmosphere. The owner of the art studio, Chen Wen-hsien, once opened a music classroom at this location but later found that the traditional format was too serious and rigid. He gradually shifted the space towards a mixed-use operation, with a focus on music exchange. Chen has had a passion for music since childhood, starting with the flute in elementary school and delving into traditional Chinese music in college, accumulating 30 years of musical experience. He currently teaches at a school and serves as the musical director of the "Yuefu Ensemble," specializing in instruments such as the erhu and flute. The art studio primarily promotes the hulusi, a musical instrument from China's ethnic minority groups, known for its unique sound and beautiful appearance. It also offers instrument painting and production services, providing a space for music lovers to freely perform in a supportive environment with no charge, creating a small performance venue. Music is no longer taught in a rigid manner but is enjoyed through mutual appreciation and interaction. Chen mentioned that returning to his hometown brought complex emotions, as job opportunities in rural areas are limited, leading many young people to seek work elsewhere. This motivated him to give back his musical experiences to Guanshi. At the art studio, you can see Chen quietly creating and cultivating music stories that belong to him and Guanshi!
