Huzuo Fei Art Workshop Introduction
Promoting the beauty of Guansi through the Hulusi, the interior decor in a lovely rosy hue paired with soothing music creates a relaxed and harmonious atmosphere. Huluzuo Fei Art Studio, owned by Chen Wen-hsien, previously operated a music classroom at this location but later felt that the format was too serious and standardized, gradually shifting to a multipurpose approach centered around music exchange. Chen Wen-hsien has loved music since childhood, starting with the flute in elementary school and then entering the world of traditional Chinese music in university, accumulating 30 years of musical experience. He teaches at a school and also serves as the music director of the "Yuefu Orchestra," specializing in instruments such as the Erhu and flute. The Huluzuo Fei Art Studio primarily promotes the Hulusi, an instrument from the minority ethnic groups in China's frontier regions, known for its unique sound and beautiful appearance. They also offer services like instrument painting and making, providing a space for music enthusiasts to freely showcase their talents with no charges, functioning as a small performance venue. Music is no longer taught in a rigid fashion but is instead explored through mutual appreciation and interaction. Chen Wen-hsien mentions that returning to his hometown brings complex feelings, as job opportunities are scarce in rural areas, causing many young people to seek opportunities elsewhere. This motivated him to give back to Guansi with his musical experience. At the art studio, you can see Chen Wen-hsien quietly creating and cultivating music stories that belong to him and Guansi!
