Huzuo Cafe Art Studio Introduction
Promoting the beauty of Guanshi through the hulusi, the rose-red indoor decor paired with pleasant music creates a relaxed and harmonious atmosphere. The owner of the art studio, Chen Wen-hsien, previously opened a music classroom at this location but later found the traditional music classroom format too serious and standardized. Gradually, he shifted the space toward a mixed-use operation, starting with the idea of exchanging music. Chen Wen-hsien has been passionate about music since childhood, beginning with the recorder in elementary school and entering the world of Chinese music in college, amassing 30 years of musical experience. He works as a teacher at a school and also serves as the music director of the "Yuefu Orchestra," proficient in playing instruments such as the erhu and flute. The art studio primarily promotes the hulusi, a traditional musical instrument of China's ethnic minorities, known for its unique sound and beautiful appearance. It also offers services like instrument painting and production, providing a space for music enthusiasts to perform freely without any charge, functioning as a small performing venue. Music is no longer taught in a rigid manner but is instead appreciated and interacted with through mutual exchanges. Chen Wen-hsien expressed that returning to his hometown brought complex feelings. Due to fewer job opportunities in rural areas, many young people choose to venture out, which motivated him even more to give back his musical experience to Guanshi. When you visit the art studio, you can see Chen Wen-hsien quietly creating and cultivating, striving to compose a musical story that belongs to both himself and Guanshi!
