Renyi Pond Reservoir Introduction
Renyi Lake Reservoir is located upstream of Bajhang Creek in Banlu Township, Chiayi County, and is a type of diversion earthen dam reservoir. Its catchment area is 3.66 square kilometers, with a dam crest length of 1,535 meters and a width of 9 meters, providing an annual water supply of 52 million tons. The reservoir was constructed in April 1980 and began reservoir operation in June 1987. The water source is drawn from Bajhang Creek, which is directed into the reservoir through a sedimentation tank; the intake is located about 50 meters downstream from Wufeng Bridge on Provincial Highway 3, where a water barrier is constructed, and water is diverted to Renyi Lake Reservoir via a 1.5-kilometer water conveyance channel, linking it with Lantan Reservoir to supply drinking water for 450,000 residents in the Greater Chiayi area. Renyi Lake Reservoir supplies drinking water for all of Chiayi County and city, and the area features beautiful lakeside scenery, lush greenery, and a well-planned embankment walking path. It is common to see couples strolling and many visitors walking or exercising in the early morning and evening, engaging in activities like kite flying, jogging, and dog walking. The picturesque Renyi Lake, located within Banlu Township, has a natural irregular shape that adds to its beauty and makes it the best leisure destination for people in the Chiayi area on weekends.
