Water Source Meter Room Introduction
Elegant Architectural Art - Water Meter Room of the Water Source: The Water Meter Room is located opposite the Agricultural Experiment Station on Minquan Road in Chiayi City. Its elegant and unique design mimics Baroque architecture from the Renaissance period, featuring robust columns paired with simplified gables. This architectural style is rare in Chiayi City, which has allowed it to be preserved to this day. The land belongs to forestry use and, due to the road not being widened in the past, it had been obscured by trees and shrubs. It wasn't until the widening of Minquan Road between Chiayi Park and Lantan Junior High School that the "Water Meter Room," hidden for decades, was revealed, drawing attention for its distinctive architecture and design. This building was constructed by the Taiwan Water Corporation for the water meter, and has a history of at least eighty-five years since its completion during the Japanese occupation period. The water meter room was responsible for recording the daily flow of the water purification plant but has been out of use for over twenty years due to not meeting modern requirements. Construction year: Taisho 3 (approximately 1914).
