Pacific Park (South Section, North Section) Introduction
Hualien Pacific Park includes the South Coastal Section and North Coastal Section. The South Coastal Park is planned along the South Coastal shoreline, preserving the original natural landscape. Sitting on the large stones by the shore, visitors can enjoy a distant view of the vast Pacific Ocean and the crescent-shaped "Huilan New Bay." Next to the seawall, it connects two bike paths. The park has a clean environment, planned resting benches for pedestrians, and a spacious area. With Hualien's good air quality, it is a great leisure spot for the public on both weekends and weekdays. The park features a Roman-style central square, equipped with a parking lot and public restrooms, as well as designated areas for children's playgrounds, making it very convenient with barrier-free facilities, which are a blessing for the elderly. The North Coastal Section boasts large 3D mural art installations, including a sculpture of a koi fish jumping out of water at the entrance, the 3D hand-painted ocean world mural wall, extreme sports facilities, and a beach volleyball court, making it popular among young people. Both sections are excellent places for family outings. Pacific Park occasionally holds weekend markets or cultural performances; activities are lively in the morning and evening, while daytime is suitable for cycling and walking, and in the evenings, it is a spot for listening to waves and stargazing. The North Coastal Section, covering approximately 7 hectares, features the well-known North Coastal Sunrise Beach Park, as well as the Koi Jumping Dragon Gate entrance symbol combined with 3D mural art, including a gigantic 30-meter diameter 3D painting called "Universal Giant Dragon," a vivid ocean world mural wall, and hollow photo frames among other large installations. This year, Pacific Park has unveiled more new features, including a newly opened extreme sports facility, a parent-child sand play area, and a volleyball court, which are also very popular with many local youths. The South Coastal Section covers about 20 hectares. At the entrance, there is a staircase, and on the left side of the staircase stands a sailboat sculpture inscribed with "Pacific Park." Walking up the gentle slope behind it will lead directly to the White Sand Playground. Visitors can also choose to take the stairs directly to the playground, but the slope is more suitable for families to stroll. At the end of the slope, visitors can see the sand play area, with white sand reflecting the blue sky and the vast ocean behind, creating a captivating scene. Compared to other characteristic parks in Hualien, this playground is among the most popular. The sand play area features not only sand but also a pirate ship, swings, and a trampoline, making the fun of playing in the sand even greater with its rich facilities. Every child visiting here has a blast. Among them, the "Slide of Love," created by the famous cartoonist Hsiao Yen-Chung, draws inspiration from an image of baby elephants playing, providing a facility that allows visiting families to experience Hsiao's imaginative world. Next to the sand play area is the South Coastal bike and pedestrian path, which is very well paved, making it suitable for both cycling and walking. It is perfect for families to play in the sand, watch the sea, feel the sea breeze, and enjoy a pleasant afternoon together, embodying simple happiness.
