Hualien Railway Cultural Park Introduction

The Hualien Railway Cultural Park was originally the Hualien Harbor Branch Office, responsible for the administration and supervision of the construction and operation of the eastern line of the railway. After its dissolution, through various efforts from government agencies and the community, this area was registered as one of Hualien County's historical buildings. In 2003, it underwent restoration and was planned as a railway cultural park. The old trees planted in the park have withstood the passage of time and continue to stand guard over this precious railway heritage site. The interior space has been transformed from the former director's office and archive room into various exhibition areas, offering a "costume experience" that adds a fun element. The second building of the cultural park is reconstructed from the old Public Works Department and Police Department, retaining early offices, detention rooms, and a blacksmith workshop, exuding a strong nostalgic atmosphere. Additionally, to help the public recognize historical buildings and the old eastern line locomotive LDT103, which embodies the development history of the Hualien-Taitung area, special efforts were made to shape its imagery by adding a timed whistle device and smoke device to recreate the historical scenes of that time.
