Hualien Cultural Creative Industries Park Introduction
Hualien Old Wine Factory is located on Zhonghua Road in Hualien City. It was formerly known as the "Taiwan Governor-General's Office Monopolized Bureau Hualien Port Branch Hualien Distillery," primarily producing red wine and rice wine. The distillery ceased its over sixty years of brewing history in 1988 when it relocated. It was later taken over by the National Cultural and Creative Industries Park and renovated in collaboration with private investment, becoming the current "Hualien Cultural and Creative Industries Park." This transformation aims to continue brewing rich culture and creativity from the old distillery's historical foundation. The Hualien Cultural and Creative Industries Park is one of Taiwan's five major cultural and creative industry parks, featuring a vast expanse of land where the former brewing facilities still exist. The simple and unadorned concrete buildings and Japanese cypress wood exude a unique charm after years of quietude, making it a must-see scene for visitors. The park’s factories have been transformed into artistic spaces, including exhibition halls, small theaters, warehouses, and offices, combining nostalgic style with modernity, and serving as the venue for many important cultural and artistic activities in Hualien. In addition to hosting cultural events, the Hualien Cultural and Creative Industries Park prioritizes promoting local cultural and creative industries. The park has many small shops filled with contemporary lifestyle styles, each space often integrates different shops into a symbiotic space, and markets are held irregularly on weekends, making it the most vibrant hub for cultural and creative activities in Hualien.
