New Taipei City: Wu Fuyang Sock Story Museum Introduction

Since the Japanese colonial era, it has actively participated in leading the development and innovation of Taiwan's sock industry, evolving from early hand-knitted socks and semi-automatic knitting to advanced computerized sock production. We are committed to providing consumers with the highest quality socks and aspire to continue to develop steadily as a century-old enterprise based on quality and service. In 2013, the Wu Fu Yang Sock Story Museum was opened to preserve invaluable historical data regarding the development of Taiwan's sock manufacturing industry and company history, showcasing the sock knitting process. The exhibitions in the museum combine tradition and innovation, emphasizing knowledge and fun, allowing visitors to gain a deep understanding of the evolution of sock textiles throughout history. Additionally, a dedicated app called "Good Sock House" has been developed, providing a game, new knowledge, shopping, and travel all-in-one service. Seasonal DIY courses are also organized, allowing families to experience the fun of traditional hand-knitting socks from a hundred years ago! In the 1930s, during the Japanese occupation, Taiwan did not have professional sock manufacturing factories. The first chairman, Wu Nai Yang, observed the demand and opportunities for socks in the Taiwanese market and introduced the most advanced hand-knitting machines from abroad at that time. He hired masters from Shanghai to teach the production of high-grade nylon stockings, marking the beginning of the deep relationship between the Wu family and socks. Wu Nai Yang named the company "Wu Fu Yang" to commemorate his late father, Wu Fu Tang, by taking one character from both their names. Wu Fu Yang insists on following correct manufacturing methods, categorizing 9 sizes suitable for the Asian foot shape based on users' ages and foot lengths, using specialized machines to provide the most comfortable and fitting experience for the feet. Due to Wu Fu Yang's commitment to sock quality, many well-known domestic and international apparel and sports brands have been long-term clients. Wu Fu Yang has been deeply involved in the evolution of Taiwan's sock industry. Since the introduction of hand-knitting machines, the sock manufacturing industry has transitioned from semi-automatic knitting to high-capacity fully automated production. With the increasing awareness of environmental protection, efforts have also begun to incorporate eco-friendly and functional materials. To provide an educational and recreational environment for sock production while preserving the development of Taiwan's sock industry and the history of Wu Fu Yang, the third-generation manager, Wu Hong Zhou, has always desired to establish a sock story museum. While others in the industry have moved to China, we remain committed to staying in Taiwan. The establishment of the museum aims to provide the public with an entertaining and knowledge-based industrial education environment, hoping to offer visitors a rich experience and contribute to the Taiwanese sock industry.
