Xiweili Tower尖 Introduction
Xiweitai is located on the intertidal zone along the coast of Xiwei Village, where local residents gather shells and harvest seaweed. In earlier times, due to the turbulent tides flowing towards the Tongliang Cross-Sea Bridge, residents were concerned about adverse effects on the village, so they built the tower to manage the water flow and mitigate the water's destructive effects. It is also close to the Xiwei Fishing Harbor, providing shelter for fishing boats entering and exiting the sea safely. Originally a seven-tier basalt sharp tower, it has been renovated twice to the current nine tiers (plus the decorative top), which is why the locals also refer to it as the Nine-Tiered Pagoda.
