Baikeng Village, Shita Introduction

The Baikeng Stone Pagoda was established by the ancestors who believed that the northeast monsoon from the northern sea would directly enter the village, which is referred to as "Flying Kill." Therefore, a stone pagoda was erected to protect the village's safety, although the exact date of its construction is unknown. Interestingly, the Baikeng Stone Pagoda is the only painted stone pagoda in Penghu, and it is equipped with a solar-powered identification light at the top. In earlier times, there were no landmarks nearby, so the Baikeng Stone Pagoda played a significant role in guiding nearby vessels. During low tide, one can reach the stone pagoda via the exposed sandy areas between it and Baikeng Beach. Source: Oral traditions of local elders in Baikeng Village, partially excerpted from the book "The Exorcising and Blessing Pagodas of Penghu." Exterior appearance: Pagoda type: Total height: 4.27 meters Circumference: 24.3 meters Construction form: Conical Top decoration: Stone talisman
