Longmen Nankan Blockhouse Introduction
Have you seen the vibrant red flying "Dragon" character and the stable "Gate" character? This is the Longmen Blockade, formerly known as the "Lijengjiao Underground Command Post," also called the "Huxi Longmen Nankan Blockade," which used to have significant military importance. After the military's handover, it was planned by the Penghu County Government as a military culture attraction, and it was officially completed and opened in October 2020. The site is generally divided into an external area - landscaping and facilities park, and an internal area - Longmen Tunnel. Outside the tunnel, there is a steel sculpture art creation that combines Penghu's Eight Scenic Views, named "Fish Leaping over the Dragon Gate ‧ Observing the Waves", symbolizing the strong spirit of the military through the steel sculpture material. The main structure of the tunnel was built during the Japanese occupation, measuring 705 meters in length, approximately 60-80 centimeters in width, and about two meters in height, accommodating a infantry company of 150 men. As for the machine gun nests, anti-aircraft bunkers, underground command posts, and radar stations, these were constructed after the takeover by the Nationalist government troops. Additionally, you can see ammunition storage rooms, kitchens, war game rooms, and sentry posts among the military facilities. Inside the war game room, you can appreciate the mural painted by Penghu artist Zheng Meizhu, illustrating themes including the landing situation of the Japanese army at Lijengjiao during the Yiwei Campaign, the scene of villagers being requisitioned to excavate tunnels during the Japanese occupation, and various maps of the Longmen location.
