Lin Tou Park, in the 35th year of the Republic of China, first planted over 90,000 casuarina trees along the Lin Tou coastline. By February of the 42nd year, when the park was established, the casuarina trees had already created a lush green environment. At the end of the entrance path to the park, on the right side, is the Martyrs' Shrine, originally named "Penghu Military Cemetery of Taiwan Province," which was constructed in the 43rd year of the Republic of China. It is the earliest military cemetery built in Taiwan. In the 75th year, it underwent renovations, and the main building was transformed into a three-story structure, completed in the 78th year. Inside the archway of the Martyrs' Shrine stands a monument inscribed with the words "The righteous spirit endures," written by then Minister of National Defense Yu Dawei during the 823 Artillery Battle in the 47th year of the Republic of China. The generals who sacrificed their lives during the 823 Artillery Battle, such as Ji Xingwen, Zhao Jiaxiang, and Zhang Jie, are honored here. Lin Tou Village got its name from the dense growth of casuarina trees on both sides of the small creek in the southeast of the early settlement; it is said that the current Lin Tou Park and the large sandy beach to its east were once filled with casuarina trees.

Lintou Park Introduction

Lintou Park first planted over 90,000 Casuarina trees at Lintou Beach in 1946. By the establishment of the park in February 1953, the Casuarina trees had already created a lush green landscape. At the end of the entrance path on the right side is the Soldiers' Martyrs Shrine, originally known as the "Penghu Military Cemetery," which was built in 1954 and is the earliest military cemetery established in Taiwan. It underwent renovations in 1986, transforming the main building into a three-story structure, completed in 1989. Inside the gate of the shrine is a monument inscribed with the words "Enduring Aspirations," written by the then Minister of National Defense, Yu Dawei, during the 823 Artillery Battle in 1958. Generals who sacrificed themselves during the 823 Artillery Battle, such as Ji Xingwen, Zhao Jiaqiang, and Zhang Jie, are honored here. Lintou Village got its name from the dense growth of Casuarina trees on both sides of the small creek to the southeast of the early settlement. It is said that the current Lintou Park and the large sandy beach to the east were once covered with Casuarina trees. Casuarina trees are excellent for wind resistance and sand stabilization, making them suitable for the unique climate of the Penghu region. Currently, only a small cluster of these trees remains on the northern side of the park, while the others have been removed in favor of planting Casuarina forests or other flowering plants. The beach at Lintou Park stretches across three villages: Jianshan, Lintou, and Aimen, totaling more than 3,000 meters, making it the longest beach in all of Penghu, beautifully surrounding the southern coast of Huxi Township. The beach has fine sand, and the sea is clear, making it a pristine "white coral debris beach." Adventurers can travel southwest from Jianshan and Lintou directly to the crescent-shaped, narrow beach at Aimen. Lintou Park is the most accessible and friendly spot for enjoying the view of the sea. The greenery, tranquility, pavilions, and wooden benches in the park provide the perfect place to relax and cool off after enjoying beach activities under the bright sun.
