Lintou Park Introduction
Lintou Park first planted over 90,000 Casuarina trees along the Lintou seaside in 1946. By the time the park was established in February 1953, the Casuarina trees had already created a lush green landscape. At the end of the entrance path on the right side stands the Military Loyalty Shrine, originally named the "Taiwan Province Penghu Military Cemetery," which was built in 1954 and is the earliest military cemetery in Taiwan. It underwent renovations in 1986, transforming the main structure into a three-story building, completed in 1989. Inside the shrine's archway is a monument inscribed with the words "Enduring Loyalty," written by then-Minister of National Defense Yu Dawei during the 1958 Bombardment of Kinmen. Generals who sacrificed their lives during the Battle of Kinmen, such as Jixing Wen, Zhao Jiaqiang, and Zhang Jie, are commemorated here. Lintou Village derives its name from the dense growth of Casuarina trees along both sides of a small stream in the early settlement period; it is said that the current Lintou Park and the large sandy beach to the east used to be filled with Casuarina trees. The Casuarina is a strong wind-resistant and sand-stabilizing species, making it highly suitable for the unique climate of Penghu. Currently, only a small cluster of these trees remains in the northern section of the park, as most have been removed and replaced with Casuarina forests or other ornamental trees. The beach of Lintou Park stretches across three villages—Jianshan, Lintou, and Aimen—totaling over 3,000 meters, making it the longest beach in all of Penghu, encircling the southern coastline of Huxi Township with magnificent views. The beach has dense sand and clear waters, featuring a clean and beautiful "white coral sand beach." Players can travel southwest from Jianshan and Lintou to the elongated arc-shaped beach of Aimen, making Lintou Park the most accessible spot for enjoying the sea. The greenery, tranquility, pavilions, and wooden benches in the park provide the perfect place for relaxation and cooling off after indulging in beach activities under the sun.
