Jiji Railway Station Introduction
During the suspension of train services between Zhuoshui and Checheng, passengers will be inconvenienced as substitute bus services will be implemented. The timetable for the bus services will correspond with the train schedules. For inquiries related to the Jiji Line, please contact Taiwan Railways Administration. Zhuoshui and Jiji Station are expected to resume services in July-August of the 115th year, with the entire line set to fully reopen by the end of that year. Jiji Railway Station, constructed in 1933, is an old station built with cypress wood, serving as a landmark of Jiji Township and the most well-known station on the Jiji Branch Line. It was damaged during the 921 Earthquake, and after reconstruction, it retains its Japanese-style wooden exterior, being one of the last remaining railway stations from the Japanese colonial period. Initially, the Jiji Branch Line mainly transported construction materials for power plants. As the local area prospered, the line also began to accommodate passenger transport and the transportation of agricultural products and timber, serving as a living monument to the economic value of railway branch lines, showcasing unique characteristics of nostalgic railways. In 1994, through the joint promotion of the Railway Bureau and the local township office, the small trains of the Jiji Branch Line were transformed into colorful sightseeing trains, attracting a constant stream of tourists on holidays, allowing Jiji to revive the glory of earlier years. At Jiji Railway Station, visitors not only experience railway culture and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way but also feel the resilience of the local residents, encapsulated in the Taiwanese phrase "Breaking bones to turn courage" (台語). Across from the station, there is a decommissioned steam locomotive that bears witness to the glorious history of the Jiji Branch Line; tourists love to take photos here as a memento of their visit. The platform is open all day, while the station hall and ticket window are open from 08:00 to 17:00, subject to changes due to national holidays, natural disasters, or staff holidays as announced on-site or officially. *Train services between the Jiji Branch Line from Zhuoshui to Checheng Station are temporarily suspended, with the entire line expected to reopen by July-August of the 115th year.
