Tianxing Kiln Ceramic Village Introduction

Tianxing Kiln Ceramic Village is located in Fenglin Alley, Jiji Township, Nantou, near the famous Jiji Green Tunnel. It is one of the oldest and still operational snake kilns in Taiwan, established in 1955. Tianxing Kiln initially specialized in producing coarse pottery through traditional snake kiln methods but has gradually transformed into a diversified cultural and tourism park that combines ceramic art with tourism over the years, becoming an important cultural tourism spot in the Jiji area. The park covers approximately 2,000 ping and retains a complete old snake kiln, along with exhibitions of ceramic artifacts and production tools that allow visitors to gain an in-depth understanding of the development of Taiwanese ceramics. Tianxing Kiln actively promotes ceramic culture, featuring a pottery classroom that provides parents and children, as well as visitors of all ages, the opportunity to experience the fun of DIY pottery-making with guidance from professional instructors on basic pottery techniques, enabling each visitor to create unique ceramic artworks. The works from Tianxing Kiln balance tradition and innovation, using natural and eco-friendly materials, such as the "Puzhen Shao" series and the "Zhangxiang" series inspired by the old camphor trees of the Jiji Green Tunnel, showcasing rich cultural connotations and artistic quality. The park also has a sales area for ceramic products, offering tea sets, tableware, flower vases, and lifestyle ceramic ornaments, making them suitable for souvenirs or gifts. Tianxing Kiln has overcome challenges, including the 921 earthquake, and under the leadership of the third-generation kiln owner Lin Qinghe, has successfully transformed into a ceramic village that integrates cultural preservation and tourism experiences, becoming a must-visit destination for cultural tourism in Jiji. Visitors can not only appreciate the ceramic artworks but also feel the charm of traditional craftsmanship and the vitality of creativity in a lush environment.
