Yueya Bay/Toushe Dam Introduction
Yueya Bay is located on the southern side of Sun Moon Lake and is a tranquil and picturesque water bay within the Yutian area of Sun Moon Lake. The water here is wide and clear, and boats are not allowed to navigate in this area, preserving the mirror-like beauty of the lake surface, making it one of the hidden gems of Sun Moon Lake. A bike path runs along the coast of Yueya Bay, allowing cyclists to enjoy rich ecology and forest scenery, as well as a distant view of the Cien Pagoda, making for a pleasant experience. The water area of Yueya Bay is the largest among all non-motorized water recreation areas in Sun Moon Lake, making it suitable for stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). Each moment from dawn to just before sunset offers a different landscape. Every summer, Yueya Bay also hosts the National Rowing Championships, bustling with water activities that attract numerous sports enthusiasts and tourists to watch and participate. This area is also home to the Toushe Dam, which is one of the important water-retaining dams in the Sun Moon Lake hydropower system. Together with the Shui She Dam, it intercepts water sources, transforming Sun Moon Lake from a natural lake into a reservoir, significantly expanding the surface area of the lake. The dam structure is solid, and the surrounding environment is naturally beautiful, making it a great place for visitors to stroll and enjoy the scenery.
