Ida Shao Pier Introduction

Ita Thao Pier is located on the shores of Sun Moon Lake in Yuchi Township, Nantou County. It is one of the four major piers at Sun Moon Lake and serves as an important point for tourists to board boats for lake tours. The pier is adjacent to the bustling Ita Thao business district, which is the main settlement of the Thao people, blending rich indigenous culture with natural beauty, making it a must-visit attraction for tourists. After several renovations, Ita Thao Pier features a spacious pier square and an octagonal building, offering a comfortable environment. Facilities around the pier include a visitor service center, public restrooms, parking, and walking paths, providing convenience for tourists to relax and plan their travels. In the pier square, visitors can often enjoy scheduled classic pounding music performances, experiencing the rhythm and spirit of Thao culture. The bridge leading to the boat floating platform is a necessary stop for tourists before boarding the boats. It is adorned with a unique set of Q-version frog figurines that differ from the famous "Nine Frogs" at Sun Moon Lake; instead of being stacked vertically, these frogs are arranged horizontally in a lively and cute manner, with various poses, some carrying items, some sitting, and even some riding bicycles, adding a fun and whimsical touch. Hours of operation: Summer (approximately April to September) 07:00–18:00; Winter (approximately October to March) 08:00–17:00. In case of bad weather such as typhoons or dense fog, the pier will temporarily close, and boat services will be suspended.
