Yuanxing Residence Introduction
Yuanxing Residence, located right behind the San-Zhi Visitor Center, is the former residence of former President Lee Teng-hui. Previously known as Wangcuoying, it is a traditional Sanheyuan (a type of courtyard house) in San-Zhi District. It became renowned due to former President Lee Teng-hui, attracting many visitors and making it one of the famous tourist attractions in San-Zhi. The main building is a traditional Minnan-style Sanheyuan with black-tiled roofs and brick walls, which has been well-preserved. The overall style showcases antiquity and elegance, surrounded by old banyan trees, providing a serene atmosphere where visitors can sit on stone benches under the trees and admire the century-old architecture, evoking a sense of nostalgia. Currently, the main hall of Yuanxing Residence is open for visitors, while the side doors are not yet accessible. The courtyard outside, featuring stone tables, stone benches, and a stone cow, exudes an air of rustic nostalgia. The threshing ground in front of the residence was where, during his presidency, Lee Teng-hui personally distributed red envelopes to local villagers every Lunar New Year.
