Fanpo Forest Ecological Garden Introduction
During the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, Xibanli was a settlement of the Pingpu people, where men often went hunting, leaving mostly women in the village, which gave rise to the land designation "Fanbolin." In the Fanbolin tourist garden, flowers bloom all year round. From December to May, the small calla lilies, symbolizing purity and innocence, quietly unfold with bright yellow colors and a sweet fragrance. Between April and June, there are the love flowers known as water lilies, available in purple and white, which are particularly stunning and perfect for pot cultivation. The garden is primarily planted with various types of calla lilies; in addition to the common white calla lily, there are also elegant yellow, lavender, pink, and deep red varieties, all blooming profusely. The garden is filled with multicolored strawflowers in shades of yellow, orange, red, pink, peach, white, and pale yellow; their petals, resembling paper, make excellent materials for pressed flowers or dried flowers, and they have a long flowering period, earning them the nickname "everlasting flowers." Visitors can pick various flower buds and, with the guidance of farm staff, create their own bouquets using iron wire to take home, which can last at least a year without wilting, just like "real" artificial flowers. Additionally, the farm grows various organic vegetables, offering a delightful culinary experience, with the yam dumpling soup highly recommended. The farm also provides multiple DIY activities suitable for families and groups, and it is recommended to make a reservation by phone in advance. While walking around the farm, you can enjoy playing in the nearby stream or catch loaches in the ponds within the garden; sometimes, you may also spot a flock of egrets, giving you a sense of returning to Taiwan's early agricultural society.
