Zhilan Park Seaside Observation Platform Introduction
Located on the Dongjin Road (Taiwan Highway 2) at the 16-kilometer mark, the Zhilan Park Ocean Viewing Platform next to the Shuangwan Cycling Path in Sanshi District was originally built in 1992. It featured a dual-layer structure with a base and platform, standing approximately 3 meters high. The platform connected to the nearby park trail and Xianshui Bay Beach, making it a popular summer resort destination on the North Coast and one of the sites for taking wedding photos. However, due to long-term coastal erosion, it was dismantled in 2015. In recent years, following an evaluation by a professional team, reconstruction was prioritized based on durability and safety, while retaining the original site of the ocean platform base. With cooperation from central and local authorities, local artist Hu Dongmin from Sanshi and environmental aesthetics consultant Chen Junliang were invited to collaborate on the design, creating a romantic international-grade ocean extension platform approximately 3 meters high and 43 meters long, allowing visitors to stroll along the beautiful platform under the gentle sea breeze and enjoy the stunning sunset views of the North Coast.
