Ba Lien River Leisure Trail Introduction
The Balien Stream Leisure Trail is located by the pristine waters of Balien Stream, which runs through the entire Sanjhi District and serves as its main river. According to legend, eight families settled in this area for cultivation, building homes beside the valley, which led to the naming of the settlement as "Baxianli." In response to people's daily needs, numerous small irrigation channels were created, allowing the residents of Baxianli to wash clothes, irrigate crops, generate power, grind rice, and make tea, among other uses. The Balien Stream Leisure Trail is approximately 1.79 kilometers long, situated on both banks of the Balien Stream under the Putou Bridge. The river here is broader and flows gently; after renovations, the leisure trail was established, transforming it into a water park for summer recreation and becoming a well-known tourist attraction in New Taipei City. Currently, conservation efforts are underway to protect the fish in the stream, and the water is crystal clear with fish swimming freely. Along the way, waterwheels can be seen, creating a soothing sound of flowing water. There are also fields of "Bamboo Shoots," known as "Meiren Legs," alongside the trail, allowing visitors to enjoy the refreshing breeze in the countryside, washing away the noise of the city and bringing a sense of peace and relaxation.
