Yehliu Geopark Introduction
Yehliu Geopark, known for its massive scale, unique rock formations, and rare natural wonders shaped by nature's artistry, is an internationally renowned destination that must be visited when in Wanli. The park extends approximately 1.7 kilometers from the entrance to the tip of the cape, with its widest part measuring less than 300 meters. Due to the nearly vertical alignment of the coastal stretch with the geological layers and structural lines, combined with the effects of wave erosion, rock weathering, relative sea-land movement, and tectonic activities, it has resulted in an unusual and rich array of terrain and geological landscapes. It serves as a natural geological classroom and a paradise for rock formations, where weathered stones, erosion troughs, weathered cliffs, and holes are found throughout the narrow cape, offering surprising discoveries at every turn. Standing at the edge of Yehliu Cape, the vast sea unfolds before you, displaying an assortment of oddly shaped rocks: mushroom rocks, tofu rocks, elephant trunk rocks, fairy shoes, and the Queen's Head. It truly makes one wonder if celestial beings once sculpted these forms, leaving behind miraculous remnants for humanity. The regular horizontal stripes on the rock walls stand as unique witnesses, illustrating how the stacked rocks here were sculpted over time by tides and climate, gradually carved away, and crystallized into this unparalleled masterpiece of nature, a world-class geological landscape worthy of travelers' appreciation and contemplation.
