Heart Carving Residence Introduction
Located in Xipingli, Yuanli, Heart Sculpture House is a stone house near the sea, where the late artist Chen Jiong-hui created his works. He was awarded the Executive Yuan's Council for Cultural Affairs' Transmission Award, and in 1973, he established the "Mountain Gate Sculpture Society." With sharp knives and heavy wooden mallets, he intertwined the raw life of wood, showcasing the essence of traditional indigenous art with every stroke. The stone sculpture at the entrance of Heart Sculpture House fully expresses a rustic wilderness charm, with a large stone wall shaped like two hundred-step snakes, revealing the true essence of primitive art. To the right of the entrance is a stone pillar, and to the left is a primitive pavilion, complemented by garden scenery adorned with original wooden mortars, adding a touch of antiquity to Heart Sculpture House. Inside, it serves as a display of Chen Jiong-hui's works, created under the influence of the Paiwan and Rukai cultures. His works, primarily depicting humans, snakes, deer, and pigs, are characterized by unique carving methods and forms, enhancing the artistic quality beyond utilitarian purposes, making them worth exploring.
