Shanjiao Elementary School Introduction
Due to its location at the junction of the Mountain-Sea Line and its geographical center in Yuanli Township, Shanjiao Village has gathered a lot of people since more than thirty years ago, with many small and medium-sized factories and shops, developing into a bustling town. Additionally, backed by Huoyan Mountain, it possesses high-quality soil suitable for brick and tile production, leading to a glorious history of brick and tile kilns in this area. The craftsmanship of local women has also provided a stage for the rush weaving industry. However, with the changes of times, the once prosperous brick and tile industry and rush weaving have faded away. Local residents are concerned that population outflow will create a bottleneck in local development. Therefore, in 2004, they independently established the "Shanjiao Community Development Association of Yuanli Township, Miaoli County" to identify and integrate the community's characteristics, aiming to redevelop the rush weaving, brick carving art, culture, and rice-related industries. Now, under the diligent management of the association, Shanjiao Community has found a new path, regularly holding DIY workshops or relevant exhibitions, and providing cultural site guided tours, becoming a cultural community that showcases local characteristics.
