Shanjiao Elementary School Introduction
Due to its location at the intersection of the Mountain and Sea Line and being the geographical center of Yuanli Township, Shanjiao Village attracted many people over thirty years ago, with numerous small and medium-sized factories and shops, developing into a bustling town. Additionally, backed by Huoyanshan, it has high-quality soil suitable for brick and tile making, leading to a glorious history of the local brick and tile industry. The skilled hands of local women also provided a stage for the rush grass weaving industry. However, with the changes of time, the once-thriving brick and tile industry and rush grass weaving have long faded. Local residents worried that population outflow would create a bottleneck for local development. In response, they established the "Miaoli County Yuanli Township Shanjiao Community Development Association" in 2004, identifying and integrating the community's characteristics to redevelop rush grass weaving, brick sculpture arts, rice, and other specialty industries. Now, under the dedicated management of the association, the Shanjiao community has found a new path. It regularly holds DIY workshops and related exhibitions, and provides guided tours of cultural sites, becoming a cultural community that showcases local characteristics.
