Shanjiao Elementary School Introduction
Due to its location at the junction of the Mountain-Sea Line and being the geographical center of Yuanli Township, Shankuo Village attracted a large crowd over thirty years ago, developing into a bustling town filled with small and medium-sized factories and shops. Backed by Huoyan Mountain, the area boasts high-quality soil suitable for brick and tile production, which led to a glorious history of the local brick kiln industry. Additionally, the skilled hands of women provided a stage for the rush grass weaving industry. However, with the passage of time, the once-thriving brick kiln industry and rush grass weaving have faded away. Local residents worry that the outflow of population will lead to developmental bottlenecks, prompting them to establish the "Shankuo Community Development Association of Yuanli Township, Miaoli County" in the year 2004. They identified and integrated the community's features to revive the rush grass weaving, brick sculpture art, and rice production as specialty industries. Now, under the diligent management of the association, the Shankuo community has found a new direction. In addition to organizing irregular DIY workshops and related exhibitions, they also provide guided tours of cultural sights, becoming a cultural community that showcases local characteristics.
