Shanjiao Elementary School Introduction
Due to its location at the junction of the Mountain-Sea Line and being the geographical center of Yuanli Township, Shanjiao has attracted many people for over thirty years, developing into a bustling town with numerous small and medium-sized factories and shops. Backed by Huoyanshan, it has excellent soil quality suitable for brick and tile production, leading to a glorious history of brick and tile kiln industries. The skilled hands of the women in the area have also provided a platform for the rush weaving industry. However, with the changes of the times, the once prosperous brick and tile kiln industry and rush weaving have long declined. Local residents are concerned that population outflow may hinder the area's development, prompting the establishment of the "Miaoli County Yuanli Township Shanjiao Community Development Association" in 2004. They identified and integrated the community’s features to redevelop the rush weaving, brick sculpture art culture, and rice industry. Now, under the diligent management of the association, the Shanjiao community has found a new path, regularly hosting DIY workshops or related exhibitions and providing cultural site guided tours, becoming a cultural community that showcases local characteristics.
