Shanjiao Elementary School Introduction
Due to its location at the intersection of the Mountain and Sea Line and being the geographical center of Yuanli Township, Shanjiao Village has gathered a large number of people since more than thirty years ago. Medium and small factories and shops have flourished, developing into a bustling town. Additionally, backed by Huoyanshan, the area has high-quality soil suitable for brick and tile making, creating a brilliant history for the local brick kiln industry. Furthermore, the craftsmanship of local women has provided a stage for the rush weaving industry. However, with the passage of time, the once prosperous brick kiln industry and rush weaving have long since declined. Local residents are concerned that out-migration could create bottlenecks in local development. Thus, in 2004, they independently established the Miao Li County Yuanli Township Shanjiao Community Development Association to identify and integrate community characteristics and redevelop the rush weaving, brick sculpture art, and rice industries. Now, under the diligent management of the association, the Shanjiao community has found a new path, regularly holding DIY workshops and related exhibitions while providing guided tours of cultural sites, making it a cultural community that showcases local characteristics.
