House of the Virgin Mary, Loreto Introduction
The House of the Virgin Mary Loreto, located in Touhu Township, was completed on March 25, 2007, and is the third such structure in the world and the only one in Asia, mirroring the original House of the Virgin Mary Loreto in Italy. It serves as a pilgrimage site for Catholics. The original House of Loreto (Loreto) in Italy is a Catholic sanctuary that attracts nearly a million worshippers from around the world each year. According to Catholic belief, it was relocated from the Holy Land in Nazareth, Israel, where the Virgin Mary received the divine call to become the mother of Jesus. The bricks and tiles of the original house were touched by the young Jesus and have since been moved to the House of Loreto in Italy for the veneration of the faithful. In addition to the sanctuary, the gardens at this site are equally impressive, featuring a stone statue of the Virgin Mary at the entrance that seems to welcome visitors. The tidy environment and European-style architecture embody a blend of different cultural influences, making it a worthwhile place to visit and experience.
