Zhaolan Arts and Cultural Center Introduction
Zhuolan is located at the southern end of Miaoli. In the past, its favorable natural geographical environment led it to become a homeland for fruits, renowned for sweet and high-quality grapes, starfruits, citrus fruits, and pears, making it well-known in Taiwan. However, this area, with a population of over 20,000, lacks a suitable space for cultural performances. Moreover, changes in social structure and the gradual outflow of the population have posed a risk of cultural decline in the region. In 1995, the Council for Cultural Affairs provided funding to enhance local performance facilities. In collaboration with the town office, the "Zhuolan Arts and Cultural Center" was established at the Hongdao Hall of the National Zhuolan Experimental Senior High School, which includes a performance hall that accommodates 200 spectators and an exhibition hall. Although the center is not large, it is well-equipped for performances, providing a stage for local residents to express themselves. Additionally, it regularly invites outstanding artists from various places, ensuring that this two-story center hosts a diverse range of activities including dance, drama, photography, music, and crafts, allowing the residents of Zhuolan to immerse themselves in artistic pursuits.
