Chao-Lan Cultural and Creative Center Introduction
Zhuolan is located at the southern end of Miaoli. Due to its favorable natural geographical environment, it became known as a homeland for fruits, particularly famous for its sweet and high-quality grapes, starfruits, citrus, and pears, which have gained a great reputation in Taiwan. However, this area, with a population of over 20,000, lacks a suitable space for cultural performances. Along with the changes in social structure, the population has gradually been flowing out, leading to a risk of cultural decline. In 1995, the Council for Cultural Affairs provided funding to enhance local performance facilities. With the cooperation of the town office, the "Zhuolan Arts Center" was established in the Hongdao Hall of National Zhuolan Experimental Senior High School, featuring a performance hall that accommodates 200 audience members and an exhibition hall. Although the arts center is not large, it is well-equipped for performances, providing a stage for local residents to express themselves. Additionally, it often invites excellent artists from various regions, allowing this two-story arts center to regularly host performances of dance, drama, photography, music, and crafts, immersing the residents of Zhuolan in the influence of artistic activities.
