Da Dong Academy Introduction
He Mei Dao Dong Academy, a national historic site, was established in the seventh year of the Xianfeng era during the Qing dynasty (1857). It is one of the most complete ancient academies still existing in Taiwan. Recently restored, it has replaced wooden beams and pillars, returning to its former appearance. The academy is adjacent to the He Mei National Junior High School and Elementary School. The main hall enshrines the deity Zhu Wengong and the statue of the deity Kui Xing, while the east side is dedicated to the long-life plaques of those who contributed to its restoration. The west side is home to the worship of the God of Wealth and Prosperity. There is also a large section of the original weathered wood used during its initial construction. The courtyard is spacious and filled with lush greenery, often frequented by the public for leisure and relaxation in the morning and evening.
