Daodong Academy Introduction
He Mei Dao Dong Academy, a national historic site, was established in the seventh year of the Xianfeng era (1857). It is one of the most well-preserved ancient academies in Taiwan. In recent years, it has been renovated, with beams and columns replaced, restoring its former appearance. The academy is located next to He Mei Junior High School and Elementary School. The main hall enshrines the god of Zhu Wen-gong and the statue of Kui Xing, while the eastern wing honors the contributions of various individuals in its construction. The western wing is dedicated to the god of wealth and land. There is also a section featuring the original weathered logs used during its initial construction. The courtyard is spacious with abundant greenery, and the public often visits to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
