Lukang Longshan Temple Introduction
Lukang Longshan Temple was founded in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, originally located by the old port of Lukang (now Dayou Street). In the 51st year of the Qianlong reign (1786), military officer Chen Bangguang proposed relocating Longshan Temple to its current site. During this period, the temple underwent renovations in the 60th year of the Qianlong reign (1795), the 9th year of the Daoguang reign (1829), the 2nd year of the Xianfeng reign (1852), the 11th year of the Shōwa era (1936), and in the 75th year of the Republic of China (1986). In the 72nd year of the Republic of China (1983), Longshan Temple was designated as a first-class historic site and is now a national historic site.
