Lukang Ai Gate Introduction

The Aimen County designated historical site, located in the old streets and alleys of Lugang, used to have Aimen at every street corner. Today, only one remains, situated in a small alley called Houche Alley behind Zhongshan Road. This surviving Aimen was built in the 10th year of the Daoguang era, which corresponds to the year 1830, measuring approximately 10 feet in height and 8 feet in width. It bears the inscription "Gate Welcomes the Rear Carriage" in four characters. Having weathered the passage of time, it collapsed in the 68th year of the Republic of China but has since been restored.
