Shetou Doushan Temple Introduction
The existing Dou Shan Temple in Shetou is a traditional Min-Yue Han style building from the Japanese colonial period. It features a raised-beam wooden structure with exquisite wood carvings, and the painted decorations showcase distinct regional characteristics. It is a collaboration between craftsmen from Changhua and Yunlin, with rich and diverse meanings in its content and themes. The Dou Shan Temple was severely damaged in the 921 earthquake, affecting some of its main structures, but after reinforcement, it generally retains its original appearance, although it still requires restoration. Dou Shan Temple is an ancestral hall that symbolizes historical culture and ethnic spirit, closely intertwined with the local social and cultural context.
