Qingshuiyan Recreation Area Introduction
Qingshuiyan Recreation Area is a famous attraction in Shetou, Changhua. It features the elegant and historic Qingshuiyan Temple, along with a rich natural ecology park, attracting large numbers of visitors for pilgrimage, whether on weekdays or weekends. Qingshuiyan Temple has a history of 277 years (established in the 6th year of the Yongzheng period during the Qing Dynasty, 1728 AD). The temple is primarily dedicated to the Three Treasures Buddha and Guanyin Bodhisattva, and also venerates Qingshui Master and the Goddess of Childbirth among other deities. Due to the clear spring water beside the temple and the beautiful surrounding scenery, it is renowned as "Qingshui Spring Scenery" and is one of the "Eight Sights of Changhua City." In the right front yard of the temple, there is a natural sweet spring known as Ganlu Spring, which is ranked alongside Beitou Longevity Spring and Taitung Beauty Spring as the three famous springs during the Japanese colonial period, providing water for public use. Next to the spring, a small square well labeled "Only I Know Contentment" is established to remind devotees that the spring water is hard to come by and they should be grateful for it. Additionally, Qingshuiyan Temple features an elegant garden architecture, with small bridges and flowing water surrounding it. Within the garden is the Spring Scenery Pavilion; after touring the garden, visitors can walk to the pavilion to take in the full view of Qingshuiyan’s spring scenery. The Qingshuiyan Ecology Exhibition Center, located next to Qingshuiyan Temple, displays hundreds of precious insect specimens, with detailed written explanations to enhance visitors' understanding of the importance of ecological conservation. Furthermore, on the other side of Qingshuiyan Temple is the Qingshuiyan Ecology Park, which not only plants a variety of butterfly-attracting and herbaceous plants but also widely cultivates wax trees, creating a conservation area for rhinoceros beetles, making it a great choice for promoting environmental education in schools and organizations. To deepen visitors' experience of local ecological culture and develop cultural and creative industries, the Qingshuiyan Eco-Cultural Association offers various interesting DIY experiences and ecological tours, such as leaf printing, creative steamed buns, and freshly picked guavas, with the primary aim of combining education with entertainment, ensuring that visiting tourists leave with fulfilling experiences.
