Longting Old Trail Introduction
Once a vital trade route between Yuanlin and Nantou, it is also known as the Tiao Salt Ancient Trail. Constructed with local stone materials, it retains the ancient charm of the path, which spans approximately 1.7 kilometers. The entire trail is a gently ascending shaded walkway, with only a short section featuring steep stairs. Along the way, visitors can enjoy close views of starfruit, lychee trees, and low-elevation broadleaf forest landscapes. The trail offers diverse routes that can connect to nearby temples such as Cihui Hall, Guangtian Temple, and Yuyi Temple, which provide parking spaces and drinking water (facilities may vary due to the impact of the pandemic), making it an excellent option for public recreational hiking. Trail length: 1.69 kilometers. Walking time: 1 hour. Facilities: parking lot (for motorcycles and cars), benches, information boards, guiding signs, observation platform.
