Longding Historic Trail Introduction
Once a vital trade route between Yuanlin and Nantou, also known as the Salt Route, this ancient pathway has maintained its historic charm thanks to the local stone construction. The trail stretches approximately 1.7 kilometers in length. The entire route features a gently ascending, shaded trail, with only a segment consisting of steep stairs. Along the way, visitors can enjoy close-up views of starfruit, lychee, and other fruit trees, as well as low-elevation broadleaf forest landscapes. The trail offers various paths that connect to nearby temples such as Cihui Temple, Guangtian Temple, and Yuyi Temple, which provide parking space and drinking water facilities (subject to change due to the pandemic), making it a perfect spot for public recreational hiking. Trail length: 1.69 kilometers. Walking time: 1 hour. Facilities include parking (for motorcycles and cars), seating, information boards, guiding signs, and a viewing platform.
