Longsheng Wood Fossil Museum Introduction
The Petrified Wood Museum showcases the Huabao, featuring over thirty types of colors and patterns, each with a billion years of history, making it a world-class treasure awaiting your appreciation. These fossils are remnants of volcanic eruptions that occurred over millions of years ago, including trees, animals, and mollusks that were buried under volcanic lava. They transformed into fossils under extreme high temperature and low pressure. Some have incorporated volcanic materials, undergoing physical and chemical changes due to intense heat, resulting in translucent gemstones. Experts at the museum state that the chance of finding such petrified wood is one in a million, meaning that for every million trees buried by volcanic lava, only one becomes petrified wood, and petrified jade is even rarer. The Petrified Wood Exhibition Hall is located within the Longsheng Gardening Supply Store on Minsheng Road in Tianwei, covering an area of five hundred square meters and housing over three thousand unique petrified woods and gemstones, each over a billion years old. Some are whole tree trunks, while others are fossils still in the process of growing, with some stones displaying more than thirty colors, mottled and dazzling. The museum also features a sales area where visitors can purchase their favorite fossils, with cleaning fees deductible from the purchase.
