Longsheng Wood Fossil Museum Introduction
The Petrified Wood Museum showcases over thirty varieties of floral treasures, each boasting a history of billions of years, making them world-class treasures waiting for your appreciation. These fossils are products of volcanic eruptions that occurred over a hundred million years ago, including trees, animals, and mollusks that were buried by molten lava from the eruptions. They transformed into fossils only under extremely high temperature and low pressure. Some became exquisite gemstones due to the integration of volcanic materials combined with high heat physical and chemical changes. According to experts at the museum, the chance of finding such petrified wood is one in a million; that is, for every million trees buried by volcanic ejecta, only one becomes a petrified wood. The petrified jade is even rarer. The Petrified Wood Exhibition Hall is located inside the Longsheng Horticultural Material Store on Ming Sheng Road in Tianwei, covering an area of 500 ping, housing more than 3,000 unique petrified woods and gemstones, each over a hundred million years old. Some are whole tree trunks, others are still-growing fossils, and some stones display over thirty different colors, showcasing a dazzling variety. The museum also features a sales area for visitors to purchase their favorite fossils, and cleaning fees can be offset against purchases.
