Longsheng Wood Fossil Museum Introduction
The Petrified Wood Museum showcases over thirty varieties of colorful and patterned flower treasures, each with a background of millions of years of history, making them world-class treasures awaiting your appreciation. These fossils are the result of volcanic eruptions that occurred over millions of years ago, where trees, animals, and shells were buried by the lava, transforming into fossils through a harsh process of high temperature and low pressure. Some have mixed with volcanic materials, and with intense physical and chemical changes, they became translucent gemstones. Experts at the museum mention that the probability of finding such petrified wood is one in a million, meaning that out of a million trees buried by volcanic eruptions, only one would become petrified wood, and petrified jade is even rarer. The Petrified Wood Exhibition Hall is located within the Longsheng Horticultural Materials Store on Minsheng Road in Tianwei, covering an area of 500 ping. Inside, there are over 3,000 unique petrified wood and gemstone pieces, each over a hundred million years old, including entire tree trunks, fossils still in growth, and stones with over thirty different colors, beautifully marbled. The museum also features a sales area for visitors to purchase their favorite fossils, with cleaning fees applicable towards purchases.
