Longsheng Wood Fossil Museum Introduction

The Petrified Wood Museum displays over thirty types of colorful and patterned petrified woods, each with a history of millions of years, world-class treasures waiting for you to admire. These fossils are products of volcanic eruptions that occurred over a hundred million years ago, where trees, animals, and shells were buried under lava. They transformed into fossils under harsh conditions of high temperature and low pressure. Some have integrated volcanic materials, and through high heat physical and chemical changes, they have turned into translucent jade. Experts at the museum state that the chance of finding such petrified wood is one in a million, meaning that for every million trees buried by volcanic eruptions, only one will become petrified wood, and petrified jade is even rarer. The Petrified Wood Exhibition Hall is located within the Longsheng Horticultural Materials Store on Minsheng Road in Tianwei, occupying an area of 500 square meters. Inside, there are more than 3,000 unique pieces of petrified wood and gemstones, each over a hundred million years old, including entire tree trunks and fossils that are still growing, with stones showcasing over thirty vibrant colors. The museum also features a sales area where visitors can purchase their favorite fossils, with cleaning fees applicable towards purchases.
