Lungsheng Wood Fossil Museum Introduction
The Petrified Wood Museum showcases more than thirty varieties of colorful and patterned treasures, each with a background spanning millions of years—world-class artifacts waiting for your appreciation. These fossils are products of volcanic eruptions that occurred over a hundred million years ago, where trees, animals, and shellfish were buried by molten lava from volcanic eruptions. Under extreme high temperature and low pressure, they transformed into fossils. Some have integrated volcanic materials and, through physical and chemical changes due to high heat, transformed into translucent jade. Experts at the museum indicate that the chances of finding such petrified wood are one in a million, meaning that for every million trees buried by volcanic lava, only one becomes petrified wood, while petrified jade is even rarer. The Petrified Wood Exhibition Hall is located within the Longsheng Gardening Material Company on Minsheng Road in Tianwei, covering an area of 500 square meters. Inside, there are over 3,000 unique petrified wood specimens and gemstones, each over a hundred million years old. Some are entire tree trunks, while others are fossils of still-growing trees, and some stones boast more than thirty colors, dazzling and variegated. The museum also features a sales area where visitors can purchase their favorite fossils, and the cleaning fee can be deducted from the purchase.
