Sun Moon Lake Qingshan Trail Introduction

The Qinglong Mountain Range and Lalu Island, symbolizing the dragon pearl, are rich in legendary stories. The trail begins at the Xuanguang Temple pier and ends at the Cien Pagoda, generally ascending along the ridge with beautiful and picturesque scenery. The square in front of Xuanguang Temple offers an excellent view, with Lalu Island, Hanbi Peninsula, and the Shuishe settlement all in sight. Along the trail, there are moss sculptures designed to take advantage of Sun Moon Lake's high temperature and humidity characteristics, such as the Mountain Gate, small monk, Buddhist scriptures, and Heart Sutra planting dishes. In the Xuanguang Temple square, there is a statue of Master Xuanzang, commemorating his arduous journey to the West for Buddhist scriptures.
