Lalu Island Introduction
Lalu Island, the landmark of Sun Moon Lake, is said to be the dwelling place of the highest ancestors of the Thao people and was one of their early settlements. Throughout different eras and contexts, it has been known by various names; during the Qing Dynasty, it was referred to as "Zhu Yu," "Zhu Shan," or "Zhu Zi Shan"; the Japanese called it "Tamato," and after World War II, the Kuomintang government renamed it "Guanghua Island," meaning "Illuminating China."
