Longpan Park Introduction
Longpan Park is located along the Jiag'e Highway on the Hengchun Peninsula, situated on a coral limestone plateau adjacent to the Pacific Ocean. Due to long-term erosion by seawater, the area features majestic geological formations such as cliffs, sinkholes, crevices, limestone caves, and red soil, making it one of the most beautiful coastlines in the region. Standing on the shore, the dramatic drop of dozens of meters into the cliff terrain is impressive; this magnificent landscape has been sculpted by natural forces. Limestone, characterized by its many fractures, is continuously eroded by seawater that seeps along the joints over the years, resulting in various sized rock blocks being detached. The powerful waves gradually break these blocks away, ultimately shaping the cliffs. If the cliff's earthy orange rocks were solely close to the sea, the scenery might appear monotonous. However, numerous green plants proliferate here, adding vibrant colors to the landscape. Under the clear blue sky, with the ocean and sky blending into one another, the scene transforms as the wind blows; the sea rises into waves, and the grass sways, creating a white-green "romance." It is no surprise if one forgets to move amidst such stunning vistas. Walking along the trails of Longpan Park, one can observe some interesting changes in the landscape. Initially, the path may be a red dirt road, and after a turn, small groups of coral reefs can be seen gathered on the road. Continuing onward, the rocky surface gives way to lush green grass, and as one approaches the shoreline, larger coral formations seem to rest on the ground, accompanying travelers in admiring the harmonious natural beauty of land, sea, and sky. Longpan Park faces an expansive sky and sea with unobstructed views, and thanks to minimal light pollution, it provides perfect conditions for watching sunrises, sunsets, and stargazing. Waking up early for the moment of sunrise is worth it; arriving early to wait for the enchanting evening glow is rewarding; sacrificing nighttime rest for the sight of star-filled skies is still worthwhile. "Worth it" because Longpan Park is a rare gem that offers breathtaking scenery both day and night.
