Lidao Village Introduction
Litao Village is the highest-altitude community in Haiduan Township, and it is one of the larger Bunun villages on the eastern section of the Southern Cross-Island Highway. The name comes from the Bunun word "Litu," which means wild loquat. Most of the residents are Bunun people, and the entire village is situated on a flat river terrace surrounded by mountains, making it suitable for living and farming. The area is incredibly picturesque and offers a tranquil environment akin to a paradise. The high-altitude climate provides cool and clean air, making it a great place to cool off in the summer heat. Being a key stop on the eastern section of the Southern Cross-Island Highway, many long-distance travelers pause here to rest. The serene and leisurely atmosphere of the village allows visitors to wash away the fatigue of their journey. There are also shops selling mountain products and local specialties such as cabbage, high mountain gelatin, and fresh mushrooms, which are quite popular and make it an ideal place to stop for a break.
