Lidal Tribe Introduction
Litu Tribe is the highest community in Haita Township and is one of the larger Bunun tribes along the eastern section of the Southern Cross-Island Highway, located at kilometer 175.5 of Provincial Highway 20, with an elevation exceeding one thousand meters. It serves as an important rest stop along the Southern Cross-Island Highway tourism route. The place name originates from the Bunun language "Litu," meaning wild loquat. Most residents are of Bunun descent, and the entire village is situated on a flat river terrace surrounded by mountains, making it very suitable for living and farming. The beautiful mountainous landscape creates a tranquil paradise, and the high-altitude climate brings cool and clean air, making it an excellent place to escape the summer heat. Due to its location as a key station on the eastern section of the Southern Cross-Island Highway, many vehicles passing through stop here to rest. The peaceful and leisurely atmosphere of the village allows visitors to unwind from their travels. The village also has stores selling mountain products and local specialties, such as cabbage, highland aiyu, and fresh mushrooms, which are all quite popular, making it an ideal place for a break.
