Taoyuan Village Butterfly Valley Introduction
Taoyuan Village Butterfly Valley is located upstream of Luming Creek, serving as a shared water source for Taoyuan Village and Luye Township. It was named for the countless butterflies that used to flutter here, and it was a summer paradise for nearby tribespeople. However, due to environmental degradation, the scenic beauty of the area diminished. Thanks to local efforts and restoration plans by the Taitung County Government, the Butterfly Valley has once again become an ecological paradise along the Luming Creek Valley. The seasonal ecological scenery of Taoyuan Village Butterfly Valley has unique characteristics throughout the year, with summer being the best time to visit. Tourists can wade into the clear stream, listen to the pleasant sounds of cicadas and birds, take photos with flocks of butterflies, and observe the rich flora and fauna. Taoyuan Village Butterfly Valley is only a 15-minute drive from Luye Highland and a 30-minute drive from Taitung City, making it suitable for a day trip alongside attractions like Chulu Ranch and the Taitung Indigenous Plants Application Garden.
