Taoyuan Village Butterfly Valley Introduction
Taoyuan Village Butterfly Valley is located upstream of Luming Creek and serves as a shared water source area for both Taoyuan Village and Luye Township. It was named for the countless butterflies that once fluttered in the area, making it a summer paradise for local tribespeople to enjoy water activities. However, due to environmental degradation, the beauty of this place diminished. Thanks to rehabilitation efforts by local residents and the Taitung County government, Taoyuan Village Butterfly Valley has regained its status as an ecological paradise by the riverside within the Luming Creek Valley. The seasonal ecological landscape of Taoyuan Village Butterfly Valley has its own unique features. Summer is the best time to visit, where tourists can wade into the crystal-clear stream, listen to the pleasant sounds of cicadas and birds, take pictures with the butterflies, and observe the rich biodiversity in the area. Taoyuan Village Butterfly Valley is only a 15-minute drive from Luye High Plateau and a 30-minute drive from Taitung City, making it suitable for a one-day tour combined with visits to attractions like Chulu Ranch and the Taitung Indigenous Plants Application Museum. Here, visitors can closely observe adorable animals, learn about native Taiwanese plants, and enjoy splashing around in the water, making it a wonderful ecological journey close to nature.
