Lilan Station (Guanshan Old Train Station) Introduction
Guanshan Old Station, also known as Lilong Station, with "station" in Japanese meaning "train station," comes from the Amis language where "Lilong" refers to the abundance of "red insects" in the area. The station was originally built in 1919 during the Taisho period by the Taitung Sugar Manufacturing Company. In 1980, a new station was constructed about 100 meters away from the old station. After many years of being abandoned, the Taitung County Government funded its restoration, making it the only preserved station building from the Japanese colonial period along the East Coast Railway line. Lilong Station is located close to various attractions in Guanshan Township. Visitors can ride bicycles from the station to nearby sites such as the Old Guanshan Station long-term dormitory, Taitung Tianhou Temple, and the Guanshan Police History Museum, exploring the preserved Japanese-style architecture in the town and experiencing a journey through time, diving into the development story of Guanshan. You can also visit the Guanshan American School for a taste of rural life, savor delicious Guanshan rice, and then cycle along the Guanshan Circular Bicycle Path, passing by Guanshan Riverside Park. Enjoy the beautiful green pond scenery and appreciate the changes in the rice fields throughout the seasons, while experiencing the tranquil and leisurely lifestyle of Guanshan Township.
