Liyuan Station (Guanshan Old Train Station) Introduction
Guanshan Old Railway Station, also known as Lilong Station, where "Station" in Japanese means "train station," and "Lilong" is in the Amis language, referring to the abundance of "red bugs" in the area. The Guanshan Old Railway Station was established in the 8th year of the Taisho era (1919) by the Taitung Sugar Co., Ltd. In 1980, a new station was built about 100 meters away from the old station. After years of being idle, the station was restored with funding from the Taitung County Government, making it the only preserved railway station building from the Japanese colonial period on the eastern railway main line. Lilong Station is very close to the attractions in the downtown area of Guanshan Town, allowing visitors to ride bicycles from Lilong Station to visit nearby sites such as the Old Guanshan Station Dormitory, Taitung Mazu Temple, and Guanshan Police Museum, while appreciating the preserved Japanese-style architecture and experiencing a journey back in time to explore the development story of Guanshan Town a hundred years ago. Visitors can also take a trip to Guanshan American School, experience farm fun, taste delicious Guanshan rice, and then bike along the Guanshan Circular Bicycle Path, passing by Guanshan Riverside Park to enjoy the emerald green waters and the changing scenery of rice paddies through the seasons, all while feeling the tranquil and leisurely lifestyle of Guanshan Town.
