Liyuan Station (Guanshan Old Railway Station) Introduction
Guanshan Old Station, also known as Lilong Station, translates "station" in Japanese, while "Lilong" refers to "many red insects" in the Amis language. Guanshan Old Station was established in 1919 during the Taisho era by the Taitung Sugar Corporation. In 1980, a new station was built about 100 meters away from the old station. After years of dormancy, it was restored by the Taitung County Government and is now the only preserved station building from the Japanese colonial era on the Eastern Railway Line. Lilong Station is located close to various attractions in the bustling area of Guanshan Township. Visitors can cycle from Lilong Station to explore attractions such as the old Guanshan Station dormitory, Taitung Mazu Temple, and the Guanshan Police History Museum, experiencing the preserved Japanese-style architecture that transports them back in time, allowing them to understand the development story of Guanshan Township. They can also visit Guanshan American School to enjoy farm activities and taste delicious Guanshan rice before cycling along the Guanshan Circular Bike Path, passing by Guanshan riverside park, admiring the emerald waters, and enjoying the ever-changing scenes of rice paddies throughout the seasons, experiencing the tranquil and leisurely lifestyle of Guanshan.
