Lilan Station (Guanshan Old Train Station) Introduction
Guanshan Old Train Station, also known as Lilong Station, where "station" in Japanese means "train station," and "Lilong" refers to "red worms" in the Amis language, indicating the abundance of such creatures in the area. Guanshan Old Train Station was established in 1919 during the Taisho era by the Taitung Sugar Manufacturing Company. In 1980, a new station was built about 100 meters from the old station. After many years of neglect, the Taitung County Government funded its restoration, making it the only preserved train station building from the Japanese colonial period along the Eastern Railway Line. Lilong Station is close to various attractions in the bustling area of Guanshan Township, allowing visitors to ride bicycles from the station to nearby spots such as the Old Guanshan Station staff dormitory, Taitung Tianhou Temple, and the Guanshan Police Museum. Tourists can explore the remaining Japanese-style architecture in the town, experiencing a journey back in time to understand the development story of Guanshan. They can also visit Guanshan Agricultural School, enjoying farm experiences and tasting delicious Guanshan rice, then ride along the Guanshan Circular Bike Path, passing through Guanshan Riverside Park to admire the emerald waters and the scenic rice fields that change with the seasons, all while experiencing the tranquil and leisurely lifestyle of Guanshan Township.
