Zhiben Wetland Park Introduction
Zhiben Channel Riverside Park was developed by the Taitung Agricultural Irrigation Association using the local water channels in Taitung County. The inlet of the channel was originally constructed during the Japanese colonial period. Before improvements were made to the left bank embankment, the area was chaotic and desolate, forming a stark contrast to the beautiful scenery of the nearby luxury hotels. After implementing green beautification projects in line with ecological engineering methods, the park has become a place for visitors to reflect on the past and appreciate the tranquil atmosphere. This green beautification project covers approximately 1.4 hectares, featuring lush greenery, healthy walking paths, leisure pavilions, and viewing pavilions. Additionally, there are scenic elements such as small bridges over flowing water, peculiar stones, and waterwheels, creating a picturesque environment. Visitors can climb up to the viewing pavilion to enjoy the beautiful views of the Zhiben hot spring area and the Zhiben River estuary, or take a leisurely stroll along the walking paths to enjoy a forest bath. From April to July each year, visitors can witness the spectacular scene of swallows flying and chirping in the sky, making it feel like stepping into a beautiful painting. The water of the Zhiben Channel flows continuously throughout the year, crystal clear and refreshing, complemented by a gentle breeze that enhances the cooling sensation. To ensure that visitors can fully enjoy the scenery at Zhiben Channel Riverside Park, the Taitung Agricultural Irrigation Association has not only set up signage at the entrance of the Zhiben Bridge with stone pillars inscribed with "Zhiben Channel Riverside Park," but has also continuously added various public facilities, hoping that visitors will come and immerse themselves in the beautiful and romantic landscape.
